Former Bank of Israel Chief Stanley Fischer died

Prof. Stanley Fischer dies aged 81

As the head of the central Bank of Israel he helped Israel out unscathed from the 2008 global financial crisis, helped protect the exports of Israel.







The “Globes” chose the Fischer as the man of Israel’s economy in 2010. In 2014 he returned a short time on board with bank directors.

Fischer was born in 1943 in British colonies in Northern Rhodesia, which became Zambia if its freedom. He received economic degrees from London school in the economy before his Ph.D is completed. As with MIT in 1969, under the mentorship of the Nobel Paul Samuelson and Robert Solow winners. A professor of MIT, he also served as a guest researcher at the University of Jerusalem.

He served as an Israeli government advisor in the 1980s to help cope and cut three-digit annual inflation. In 1994 the Fischer was appointed representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and after as representative Citibank chairman.

The Fischer survived three children and nine grandchildren.
