In accordance with leadership directives to facilitate road infrastructure and expanding traffic capacity across Dubai, the Roads and Authorities Authority (RTA) An integrated urban project is announced to upgrade UMM Suqeim Street, from intersection to Jumeirah Street to Al Khail Road.
The project is designed to enhance the flow of traffic to the Emirate’s Comprehensive Development Support, discuss the demands of city expansion and development of the total quality of life for residents and visitors.
Dubai traffic progress in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim
It completes the works started upgrading Umm Suqeim Street from the intersection of Al Khail Road to Almates Road at a distance to Al Qudra.
The project is more than traditional road expansion and development by participating in creative and aesthetic buildings around the urban scene.
It shows upgraded travel paths, a dedicated tracking of cycling, and complete streets (boulerevards), along with the city’s strong spaces and making inclusive communities, dynamic environments.
It also establishes a direct link between the mall at the Emirates Metro station by target repair ensures smooth, integrated to areas and meters.
The project has been part of a Master plan developed by RTA to upgrade the road network, including Dubai Street, and Al Wasl Street developments in the appropriate course.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Director of RTASays: “Upgrading Umm Suqeim Street, from intersection Jumeirah Street to Al Khail Road, with part of a Master Suqeim-Al Qudra Corridor.
“This strategic route comes from Jumeirah Street intersections throughout the road to Emirates and serve cunfile zones with a joint population over two million”.
The project develops the connection with four strategic transporters in Dubai:
- Sheikh Zayed Road
- Al Khail Road
- Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road
- Emirates Road
It will increase suqeim suqeim capability of 16,000 vehicles per hour in two directions, especially improve traffic time between 20 minutes of six.
Al Tayer said: “The upgraded corridor directly serves important areas of residence and development, Umm Suqeim, Al Manara, Al Qoaz, and Al Quoz;
“The project involves upgrading six mainly intersections in Umm Suqeim Street, specifically in Jumeirah Street, Sheikh Street, Al Asayl Street, and Al Khail Road”.
The coverage covers four bridges and three tunnels in Dubai, with total joint length of 4.1km.
In the intersection of Jumeirah Street, a tunnel with two lines in each direction will be built, which is filled with a fixed level above level.
The second tunnel, consisting of two paths, will be built at the Alsl Wasl Street intersection to facilitate traffic flow to Jumeirah Street to Sheikh Zayed Road.
At the intersection of Sheikh Zayed Road, two bridges will be built to eliminate traffic overlapping and improve movement recovery.
A tunnel is also developed at the intersection of the first Al Khail Street to handle traffic from Al Barsha to SHEIKH level level.
Additional enhancements include expansion between the first Al Khail Street and Al Aboil Street by adding a passage in each direction in four lanes per direction.
At Al Khail Road, the works involve building and expanding two flyovers – one connecting Al Khail Road to Al Khail Street to Deiail.
The RTA is currently progressing to the works of a UMM Suqeim Suqeim section, from the intersection of Al Khail Road to Sheikh Waled Road.
This phase includes the development of the intersection of Al Barsha south, close to the kings comprising an 800m tunnel consisting of four roads in each direction.
Acts exceed 70 percent completion, with an opening scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
In concurrence, the RTA began a separate project to upgrade primarily intersections to Dubai’s Al Qudra Road.
This feature comes from Junction with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, by Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nabyan Street, and to Emirates Road.
The coverage covers the bridges worth 2,700 meters, as well as development and expansion of 11.6km on the existing road. Once complete, this phase can inspire the total capacity of Al Qudra Road and reduce travel time from 9.4 minutes in minutes.
Project also includes intersection upgrade between Al Qudra Road and the streets connecting to Arabian Studio City, by building a 600m bridge consisting of four lines in each direction.
This bridge will enhance traffic flow along Al Qudra Road and the street connecting between Arabian Raques and Dubai Studio City.
In addition, the intersection with Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan al Nathan Street upgrade by building a 700m bridge with seven lines in two directions.
The scope also includes the construction of auxiliariary ramps, with two lanes of each other, in order to perform the smooth direction of the transfer without affecting the main flow of traffic.
Works further involve building a 500m bridge to facilitate traffic movement from Sheikh Road to Sheikh Hamdan Street at the city center and Dubai International Airport.
To support access to surrounding developments, the project includes the construction of 3km in service roads along both sides of Sheikh zayed bin Hamdan Street.

The goal is to develop traffic flow and develop general capacity of this important corridor in the developers’ place.
In a series of stages, the RTA can create a new road inside the southern part of the development zone, which is linked to Emirates Road.
