Re Article (The judges speak in favor of community alternatives to many prison sentences, 20 May), those given short sentences in Custodial risks to lose their work and home, and have a negative impact on family relationships. Released from habitual prison, unemployed and excluded from family increasing the chance of refitting. Community-based sentences should reduce it and have a positive effect on recidivism.

I don’t agree with Patrick Time (‘Buy less!’: Why stitching Patrick Grant to Bee wants us to stop buying, 19 May). In 2018, I started an experiment not to buy any clothes for a year – it lasted three years, good in pandemic. I started with the new year over 19 pairs of shoes, all with disabilities. Now I buy a little new things. Purchase quality is key, instead of trendy things. Oxfam will give you a £ 5 score and spencer voucher if you donate at least one item in the coat of M & S.
