I almost covered myself with my breakfast Porridge when I read that I wanted Labor Helena Capstry to cart in the country like a collection of rolled-up sheets (Call for the British Museum to get the Bayeux tapestry in ‘1066 country’, 14 July). It is an ancient collection of threads that survive more than most things in the fabric and need to be treated with care, tenderness and take care. I have the wrong side to leave this house at least five minutes, but if experts think it can travel on a visit, then it can be done. But a visit should it, not a traveling circulation.
Visiting is a chance to know about events leading to war and maybe to stop acting as this country has a long and grasping history that connects Northern Europeans. Instead, there is a mind, however, for older clothes and for embroors who work hard to do so.
