Yoel Roth, Head of Trust and Parent Safety of Tinder, Star Group, told the Axios that the company saw it as an insurance measure for users.

“We find it as part of a set of identity security options available to users,” Roth told Axio. “Check in the face … the real meaning about confirming this person is a real, living person and not a bot or an internal account.”
