Originally called “iOS in the car,” Apple’s Carplay come in a long way in the last decade. It’s now supported iPhone Connections for over 800 different models of cars and motorcycles. It is also about to get through a big revision of a bevy with new features.
Apple updates the carplay experience with the newly revealed iOS 26. Apple announced the changes in annual WWDC event In CITERTINO, California, on June 9.
Apple’s iPhone-Compatible automobile operating system uses more than 600 million times daily, according to tech giant. The entire carplay system takes a refresh, including the icons of lights and dark modes, widgets that give you “easy ways to get activities like flight activities.
“We also add new features to help you connect while driving, as you call messages,” as you reach messages in messages during WWDC Keynote messages.
There are also now car controls in Apple Carplay, including radio and climate controls.
You can use Apple CarPlay to control your car’s climate.
Footage from Apple during Keynote also shows that you can send emoji reactions to messages while going, without navigating from your driving directions. You can also see items such as calendar reminders and home controls at home widgets on the display side.
Apple launched Carplay Ultra Last month, bringing more adapted parts for automakers to include.
“It provides information for all driver’s screens, including a real time and measurements of the instrument, while offering drivers a regular experience,” Apple said in a blog post in May.

Design in Glass Glass
Like an iPhone on iOS 26, the carplay will get the same translucent design overhaul the apple call Liquid glasswith buttons adding a sense of depth. CarPlay icons may not have the same moving effect as your iPhone, but have the same bright, just like the glass look.
COMPRECT VIEW
One of the most innovative new parts of the CarPlay with iOS 26 is a new view that doesn’t stop your navigation when it comes to phone calls. Instead of picking up the whole screen, incoming calls now appear in a small windows below, so you can see directions turn-by-turn.
During navigating, phone calls now pop-up in a smaller window at the bottom of the display.
New features in messages
CarPlay messages with iOS 26 add to the ability to answer tapbacks such as thumbs of thumbs, a heart mark or heart marks. You will also allow you to focus the messages at the end of the interface.
New incidents to report maps
Maps soon add three new types of incident to report to the carplay. Along with existing accidents, speed checks and hazards, iOS 26 updates will also include road improvements, shutting down road and traffic.
Video streaming while parked
New CarPlay with iOS 26 will allow your video stream videos on your car from your iPhone using AirPlay. When your car begins to move, the feature should be disabled. Can or you cannot stream video can depend on your car model.
Live activities and widgets
New Live CarPlay activities will provide real-time information while you drive.

Smart Display Zoom
If this new part is run by the carplay with iOS 26, the carplay interface will automatically resistant to the most available space on the screen, even if its size. Suppose a small screen will reduce the size of icons so the two rows of app icons can be properly fit.
