On July 2, corridor The existence of 3I / Atlas, only the third frequent interstellar object observed in the universe. These are things that exist in interstellar space – places between stars – and that is not gravity tied to any star. The two more interstellar items discovered by the date are comets 1I / ‘Umuamua and 2i / Borisov.
3I / Atlas seen on July 1, if its existence was reported to a telescope in the Rio Hurp in Chile, which was operated by Asteroid terrestrial effect system Alert. Known as common atlas, it is a system funded by NASA and run by the University of Hawaii to find out asteroids that can hit the ground. It uses four telescopes – two in Hawaii, one in Chile, and one in South Africa – to automatically scan the entire sky every night to guard celestial movement.
Archived data collected at Atlas’s previous weeks’ three other telescopopes, as well as Zwicky Sky facility at Palomar Onspvatory of Technology, confirmed to discover. Additional 3I / Atlas observations are then held by many telescopes around the world, gradually reveals more details about it.
3I / Atlas estimates that, in many, about 20 miles[20 km]size. It now lies about 670 million kilometers from the sun and approaches our star from the direction of Sagittarius at a speed of about 61 km per second. Its speed is expected to increase as it approaches the day.
If astronomers studied its orbit, they found 3i / atlas facilitated force bound by gravity in the sun and thus going to the solar system and interstellar space, no longer seen again.
