American American Talking to wells about the difference between AI and true intelligence in AI today, artificial familiar and neurodivergern robots.
(An edited transcript of interview follows.)
Corporation rim feels more important, perhaps more now than you publish the first book in the 2017 series.
Yes, it will be overwhelmed. This one is a waste of time at 10 or 15 years – it is the direction we have been to as a society. Once we have the idea of corporations, that a corporation is another person than a real person, then it starts to show you how bad you get. I feel that can do that at any time; It’s not just a long thing. But the description of it in the distance makes it less terrible, in my mind. This allows you to think about these things that don’t feel you’re looking at the news.
Now the idea of going to Mars is pushed by private companies as a response to all problems. But (the meaning is those who go) are some billionaire and their coterie and their non-treated servants, and that is for other people. With corporations who quit, that’s when the profit is the lowest line – we are and personalize with anyone running on it. You can’t do the kind of serious, careful scientific progress we’ve ever had in.
This world you do is more interesting because it’s a dystopia in some ways. The Corporation Rim is definitely. And yet preserving is a type of a utopia. Do you think about them in terms?
Not at all, because of that standard, we live in a dystopia today, and I think that the term dystopia is almost rough. It seems when you call a dystopia, you shouldn’t worry about it fixing it or doing anything to try the problems. It feels hopeless. And if something you call a Utopia, then it’s perfect, and you don’t have to think about the problems it can or how you can do it better for people.
So I don’t really think about the terms because they feel very limited. And clearly to the Corporation Rim, there are still people who are in charge there, usually okay, as we do, today. And to preserve, there are people with prejudices, and they still have things to do. But they actually worked with them, which separated them from the Corporation Rim.
One of the central themes of killing studies is this idea of being human. Your books are very clear that killing, as part-man, part-artificial build, certainly a person. In our technology today, do you think artificial intelligence, many language models or chatgpt should be considered people?
Well, killing an engine of intelligence, and the chatgpt is not. It is called artificial intelligence as a marketing tool, but it is not true artificial intelligence. A large language model is not an intelligence machine. We never had that now.
We have algorithms to be strong and can imagine as many data. But they have no signal individual intelligence at this time. I still think maybe years and years and years away from anyone who makes a real artificial intelligence.
So the murder is fiction, because the intelligence of the machine today is fiction.
A large language model corresponding to words, sometimes sounds as if it might be able to talk to you and sometimes looking at standards in ways that it’s about to look at the intelligent machine.
I know myself conficted because I always get angry with interference with models and product language called artificial intelligence in modern life today. And yet I feel such affection and love for real artificial intelligence.
Yes! I wonder if that’s a thing that enables the whole AI scam to get such a foothold. Because many people don’t want to have it in their belongings, it knows that it’s the claim of all your data, whatever you desire, whatever you write, and put it in a churn in the pattern algorithm. Perhaps clearly artificial and intelligence intelligence machine has the kind of convincing it is possible and that it has happened today. People who think the ideal language models are to help them gain a shipment or learn more, if not at all. This is a waste of your time.
People are really easy to suffer things anthropomorphize, especially things like our laptop and telephone and all these things that have responded to what we did. I think it’s kind of cooking us, and the corporations enjoy making money, to stay away from the jobs from people and because of their own reasons.
My favorite character in the story is art, who is a spaceship – that is, an artificial intelligence that controls a spaceship. How do you think about the difference in this character from the middle machine, middle man kill?
The ship-based definitions are all over time, so I can’t credit for that. But because man’s murder depends on human human tissue, so causing anxiety and sorrow and other things that are in person. And art is not. The art deliberately created to work with people and be part of a team, so it doesn’t have to deal with many negative things killed in murder. An internet person describes art as, mainly, if Skynet is an academic to a family. That’s one of the best descriptions I think I’ve ever seen.
One of the reasons I and many people fall in love with this series is neurodiversity check. You have this variation of the kinds of intelligence, and they both have different types of neurodirity we see in people in real world. Did you think of this in such a way when you designed this universe?
Well, I taught it about my own neurodivity. I know I have problems with anxiety and things like that, but I don’t know I have autism. I don’t know many other things until writing this particular story and then people talk to me about it. They are like, “How do you handle the Neurodiversity description like this?” And I thought, “That’s all how my brain is the way I think people think.” Until kill, I don’t think I know where it affects my writing. Many people told me it helped them do things about themselves and that it looks like a character thinking and feeling the same things they do.
Do you think science fiction is a more helpful genre to check some human shares?
It can. I don’t know if it always has.Scenden ficistion written by people, and the good and bad parts of their identity go to it. A genre changes as the people who work it changed. So I think it’s better at the moment because we finally get some girls and people of color and neurodeal people and disabled voices of people who are heard today. And it is made for many more exciting jobs to go out. Recently, many people call it in another golden age of science fiction.
When I write (the first book in the series), All systems are red, I put myself on it. And I think one of the reasons why people recognize that there are many different aspects of it is because I have put a lot of true emotions with these things and what happened to it. I think there is a fiction failure, especially the genre fiction, which if you make a higher generic character, allowing so many people to recognize them. But that is indeed not true. The more specific one is about their feelings and their issues and what happened to them, the more people can recognize it because of that citizen.
