INDIA added 2.05 crore broadband uses FY25: Data Data

Broadband subscribers in broadband subscribers in India continue last year, adding 2 new domain users

Trai data shows that in total 969.10 million internet subscribers, the number of broadband subscribers is 944.12 million and the number of subscribers narrowband at the end of March 2025.

Data shows that the total number of internet subscribers develop from 954.40 million at the end of Mar-24 to 969.10 million at the end of Mar-25 with 1.54 percent.

The indicators of increasing digital adoption across the country, driven by wider mobile broadband access, data plans, and growing internet areas in rural areas and semi-city areas.

The annual data suggested that the Indian telecom sector sees moderate overall growth of FY 2024-25, with increasing data development development.

The total number of telephone subscribers raised from 1,199.28 million at the end of March 2024 to 1,200.80 million on March 2025, which registered a moderate annual growth.

However the wireless subscribers decreased in a small range of 1,165.49 million to 1,163.76 million, showing a loss of a net 1.74 million users and 0.15 percent leaks.

On the contrary, wireline connections see gentle stability, with 37.04 million users at the end of the year.

Despite the Subscriber plateau, telecom companies have witnessed a strong increase in user spending. The average income per user (ARPU) for wireless services surveyed 16.89 percent of Rs 174.46 per month in FY24. The prepaid arpu arose from Rs 146.37 to Rs 173.84, while the postpaid arpu saw a slight reduction from Rs 184.86.

User recovery also heals, with average monthly minutes of use (mous) per suscribers revised 3.91 percent of 1,000 minutes, driven by extra use of prepaid users. The use of the postpaid, however, fell from 544 to 503 minutes each month.

Ahead of data, India added 2.62 crore new wireless data users, growing from 913.34 million to 939.51 million, a 2.87 percent increase. Data consumption is filled, with total use of wireless data development of 17.46 per cent year-year to 2,28,779 petabytes (PB). It pushes wireless data income at 15.49 percent of Rs 2,15,078 crore for the year.

However, Tele-density, showing telephone connections per 100 people, dropped from 85.69 percent to 85.04 percent, indicating a small growth of connection growth. Salyy’s tele-density falls from 133.72 percent to 131.45 percent, while telor-density sees a minor increase in mountain subscriptions and subscriptions.

Markets in the countryside have a growing part of the general connection, with their contribution from 44.52 percent to 44.53 percent of all subscribers.

Numbers highlight a transition sector – marked with increasing digital participation and monetization but facing saturation of traditional voice growth and subscriber.
