The Spider collection (Arachnida: Aranenae) in Manchester Museum: People, History, and a Type Catalog
Abstract
This paper is offered in the history of spider collections made by Manchester Museum, UK. By the end of 2024, the Manchester Museum has accumulated 172,000 spider spiders in 4255 identified and about 1130 (21%) unspecified species. The Museum’s Spider collection history is narrated into the form of short essays focusing on specified areneneologists that provide significance (over 1000 spiders) collections. Small taking texts / hundreds of specimens (130 generally) faced in a separate section. A complete catalog of type aranaea specimens in Manchester Museum (until the end of 2024) is also provided. There are a total of 179 spider spiders (746 specimens) represented by specimen types, which 71 species are represented by holotypes.
