UAE emerges as the top market market all over the world, according to the newly released 2025 Global Digital Shopping Index – Visa receipt edition and held at Pymts Intelligence.
Based on a survey of 1,679 consumers and 329 merchants across the country, the report found that 67 per cent of UAE consumers used a mobile phone as part of their most recent retail purchase – A 23 per cent increase since 2022.
Data confirms UAE position as a global mobile-first digital commerce leader.
UAE Mobile Shopping
With 37 percent of all online shopping in the United Arab Emirates, mobile devices, the country mainly in Singapore (34.8 percent), and 24.4 percent).
The index also highlights the UAE’s strong embrace of biometric authentication, with 32 per cent of shoppers using fingerprint or facial recognition to complete their latest online retail transaction – Nearly double the global average of 17 per cent.
Salima Gutiva, Visa’s The Vice President and Nations Manager for the United Arab Emirates, said: “The UAE method shows what all stakeholders can work together to build the future commercial.

The report also states that 53 percent of the United Arab Emirates consumers have traded the cross-channel, which unites the world’s experiences.
In addition, 38 percent of shoppers choose for home delivery by mobile or desktop to their last buying purchase.
Consumer preferences continue to shape the Digital Economy of UAE. The report shown:

- 73 per cent expected free shipping
- 70 percent prefer pricing counterparts
Millennials Lead Mobile Adoption with 73 percent using phones to shop, followed by Generation Z and Generation X.
Boomer and Senior Kids show the most low mobile engagement, with 18 percent using a mobile device for their last purchase.
