A wavy polar jet stream can bring storms more than south

The more false winter weather in northern hemisphere does not result in polar jet stream increasingly, according to new research – though Climate change Creating winter storms is more powerful in other ways.
The Northern Polar Jet Stream is a current air passing through the Northern Hemisphere, referred to the boundaries between the cold air and cold air around the Arctic.
For more than a decade, some researchers suspected That an arctic heating is causing the jet stream to pass winter in winter, causing severe snow-bearing storms and ice more than the South than the average.
But theory is difficult to prove, in part because of the relatively low satellite data records, and also due to severe natural variability of jet streams in winter months.
Erich Obserberg In Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, and his colleagues are designed to see if the jet stream behavior is not generally compared to the long-term average.
Satellites only began to collect the jet stream data in 1979, so researchers used the temperature data and changing the action of US activity in the 20 centuries.
They found the polar jet experienced many times in the added period of time, suggesting new misconduct not from the usual. In a few times, winter jet river is a wavier in the past than today. “What happens now at the jet stream never looks all unusual when you zoom outside and look throughout the 20th century,” Oterberg said.
Northern hemisphere winters have become warmer and wet result of climate change driving more powerful storms and rainfall, even without changing jet stream. “This is a clear climate change affects serious events during all kinds of important ways,” he said. “What we say is that when it comes to wintertime jet stream, it doesn’t appear like jet stream is a critical component of these changes.”
Tim Woololings At the University of Oxford says research is a reminder of how important it is to evaluate long-term data when identification of polar jet stream changes, which behavior may vary in short and medium terms. “By using multiple-high data records and a variety of methods, shows how the jet waviness in North America’s new Winters is not worse than the first decades,” he said.
It’s a different summer story in the northern hemisphere in the summer, however, to suggest evidence that the polar jet is to be the waver of the tropics of the tropics. “In the summer, it shows that the jet stream saw a basic moral change, where it was slow, with large heatwaves, large heatwaves, drought and wildfires,” Oterber. “Appears to be related to climate change.”
