IOS 26 introduces a new feature to help the carplay get better exploits in the form of your vehicle, Apple announced WWDC 2025. If motivated, the new smart display zoom will lower the screen elements to fit an additional row of app icons.
“Car screens come in many shapes and sizes,” the Carplay Engineer Olivia Hess explains a Developer Video seen in Macrumors. “On iOS 26, some screen configurations allow drivers to adjust their zoom display to configure the carplay settings. If your CarPlay is automatically captured in the new display.”
Even if it’s a little change, it should be supposed to be the carplay less than a made use if there are many apps. The part is only available to a developer beta today, but can be found in a public beta next month and last iOS 26 release in September this year.
CarPlay receives other updates as part of IOS 26 update. It has a more compact view for future calls so the display does not obfuscate the directions. Tapbacks (ie emoji answers) and pinned conversations come to CarPlay messages, and widgets and live activities can be found in the infotinment system. These updates will be Carplay Ultra also.
