Ana Coates Article (From the strength training of your 20s in yoga in your 80s: How to reach peak fitness at any age, 31 May) covered age up to 80, as another similar article did earlier in the week (28 May). What about more than 90’s like my own, 94, still active on the Rowing Machine (11 minutes 16 seconds for 2,000 meters)? In the same week, there is also an article that describes a Adjusts too much in 105-year-old. Our County, Surrey, is at home at British’s oldest person At 115. Don’t forget about 90s in your fitness articles.

I and my 80-plus-year-old friends fall about (volunteer) laughing if we read we can think of our own “good shape” if we can walk out of work in 10 minutes. Since many of us have always raised, garden, swimming, cycle and playing tennis, we clearly examine the greater standards of age. Or maybe we just have to retire at bathing seats?

I don’t know if you laugh or cry when I read your article. Yes, my 82-year-old neighbor can walk free of charge for 10 minutes – he has finished two complete circuits of Richmond Park on his bike. My wife, a 77-year-old whippersnapper, walking six miles to our dogs every day, just got the couch in classes of 5k and yoga every week and taught the piled. These are healthy people at a certain age. There is a lot like them. Please do not deceive aging with disabilities.

Ana Coates describes a terrible cliff on the cliff of 80, if we need to die when we can walk for 10 minutes. I first joined a rambling club 20 years ago, when I was at the age of 60s. I can walk for 10 miles unattended, thanks for asking. It can be five hours yet.

Great to read Sarah Roberts (‘Don’t think that you’re too old’: make the fastest 75-year-old woman, 31 May). As a 61-year-old, I was reminded of a recent run I did on holiday. After all, I looked at my new GPS sports sports that Tracy has just bought me and surprised to see an average of 4 minutes 15 seconds every mile!
Just a short time, I reminded myself that I was running on a cruise ship and we sailed some 20 knots.
