Two terrible attacks – One of the Jewish Museum in Washington and the most recent in boulder, coo., – Remind us that the Jewish birth remains targeted in America. These attacks are about a disturbing pattern of hatred and violence around the country.
The United States antisemitism is in high generation. Reported to Anti-Defamation League 2024 As the year with most antisemolic incidents since tracking began in 1979. After Hamas Attacks of Israel on October 7, 2023, timber abuses, the incident of 2024 was 893% higher than a decade earlier. Jewish students are afraid to speak on campus. Families took Mezuzahs from their posts at the door. Business leaders hesitate to speak.
It is part of a good wear cycle: Saying hate leads to hate crimes.
In Los Angeles, we can point out any number of incidents including Anteteet in Antye West of October 2022, Banners at 405 soon after,, Thousands of terrible fliers,, Swating to Jewish institutions and private houses, and worse.
We warn every moment where it can lead. Sure enough, on March 2023 Two Jewish men were shot in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood. On November 2023, Paul Kesler was killed of a demonstration of Israel’s support, and June 2024, we have witnessed Violent Jewish Community Attacks in the Torah Torah.
We can’t wait for the extra violence to work. The opportunity requiring more than symbolic actions. We do not need many community meetings, we need results. As a city claims to be a beacon of progress and pluralism, Los Angeles must lead – first, by keeping the promise of security for the weakest population of LA.
After the passing of the Adas Torah, the Jewish community leaders met with the selected officials, which promised to be more protected by the areas of Jewish worship. This is the inclusion of creating “bubbles zones” to distinguish tensions between protesters and setpers used in ku klux klan abuses.
That was almost a year ago. All promises have been changed. No bubbles zones. Demasking is not implemented. There is no additional money for private security. The town must hide its Word and support Jewish communities to safely let us state our rights to amendment.
Those promises from a year ago should be the beginning, not the end. The more action is required.
Los Angeles schools should be far away, not places where the Jews feel forced to hide their identity. Unfortunately, many Jewish students and professionals reported reporting marginalized, scrapped or referred to – often with people who claimed to fight for justice.
The city must be sure that the K-12 schools and universities in LA contain to distinguish antisemitism and effectively respond. The state ordered as ethnic studies should show genuine variation in Jewish experience, including sephardic, Mizrani, Russian and Ethiopian stories. Jewish community leaders offered to help training Lausd teachers how to intervene when the Jewish students were lonely or alone.
There are 50,000 Jewish students who enroll public schools across the domada. Their safety and incorporation should be a priority – publicly verified and regularly reinforced.
The recent spike of antisemitism is a warning of all, because hate does not remain in a passage. Antisemitism often signed a wider arrangement of society. So the most effective response is to fight all hatred – together.
Over the years, many Jewish leaders invested in the pasture of Black, Latino, Asian + and HGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and LGBTQ + and communities have established coalitions, have been trained and advanced shared policy agendas to lift all communities. We are more proud of this work.
But when it comes to antisemontism, it always feels like the Jewish community that puts the burden alone. Philanthropy, Corporations and Governments should support this alliance so that we can build each other understanding, eliminating conspiracy theories and provides strong answers if any group is at risk.
You don’t have to be Jewish Jews through antisemitism. You should only believe that every person deserves to live without fear. It’s not a problem with the Jews. This is the problem with Los Angeles. And like homelessness, injustice of racism and violence, it requires a full city solution.
