Military leaders who correctly point out that climate change is something to National Security (UK should consider food and part of national security, say top ex-military numbers, 29 May). The need to respond a thoughtful, strategic procedure that focuses on practical actions and effective in difficult times and helps build the UK government “Vigorous Foundations” of National Security and Secure Borders.
For example, the largest near-term security threat of UK is the “mass population transfer” that LT Gen Richard Nugee refers to. About 3.5 billion people living in an arc around Europe, across Africa, the Middle East and Asian countries such as Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. People in these regions have already been in floods and heatwaves up to 50c that make many areas of homelessness. The rural communities are pressed by conflict and migration, while food production and goods in towns are affected.
Russia has already known it as a strategic way to destroy European democracies. People’s conflict and weapon strikes – for example, pushing a wave of 4 million fugares in Syrian War in Europe and Turkey. Payoff is the increase in pro-Russian rights of parties across Europe. With the temperature more rapidly faster than expected, this problem will be facilitated with the current Parliament. This requires immediate action if there is no way to use it.
What can we do? UK has a strong track record of using international assistance to develop farming in vulnerable communities. The best way is to change farming, producing food, establishing strength in severe weather and dragged carbon from the condition of the earth. It is a strategy for lightening, and adapting to, climate change. We must salvage and expand this program within the remaining climate financial assistance and budget.
It is important for our national security that we fight with a climate change at home, through decarbonisation, and we improve regenerative agriculture at home and in countries around Europe.
