While Keir Starmer’s U-turn welcome, perhaps too late – the damage done and the winning of support is not easy (Keir Starmmer confirms U-turn with fuel pay cuts in winter, 21 May). I’m cavysed almost everyday in my constitution and know that we totally turn off most of the long-term petrol payments and pay body stifence and personal independence. At the door, their answer was shown anger, with many who said we left the labor policies and they did not understand why. Most do not slow down the UK again, they do not dispute.

In U-turn any policy without some recognition of this a terrible error may lead to more anger and deeper confidence. We don’t just lose voters but also party activists. Members resign for their disagreement with government policies on different issues.

We need more than one U-turn. Instead, a complete reset is needed, but I do not breathe. I doubt the current leadership is capable of doing anything that does not force it and, if they do these cheerleaders for political reform of the situation we see ourselves.

There are moral and pragmatic political reasons for a U-turn to scrap the winter fuel allowance. Only leaking the targeted attitudes can still rule some, can be many, older pensioners to be shaped in the coming winter, and political fallout will continue to continue.

Wiser to create winter fuel allowance a universal unpleasant defined benefit to ensure everything in need of it. Does it make any significant difference in Exchequer if, as often quoted, a handful of millionaires is also eligible, given that they have additional taxes during their lives?

There is a simple way to ensure that pensioners require additional help with their winter fuel bills, while rich unnecessarily – as universal benefit and then give it off by tax system. That’s the tax for, among other things.
