Spider species list of a fragment of the Brazilian town of Brazilian Amazon with 16 new records and 3 new records for Brazil
summary
Order Araneae contains over 52,000 described species of spiders and, despite high variations, there is a lot of study about the group’s taxonomy, especially in tropical regions. In this work, we provide a list of spider species / morphospecies from research Campus In Mussie Emílio Goeldi, Belém, Pará, Brazil, with new records on various scales. Collections occur in sporadically between 2011-2018, using different methods of collection. There are a total of 492 individuals from 172 morphospecies followed, distributed by 103 families and 25 families. It is possible to identify 84 species (48.8%), with 16 new records for Belém, including seven for pará and three for Brazil. The relatively high species richness can be explained by several factors, such as sampling and different times of the year, and the fact that the study area is connected to an extensive forest matrix to the northeast, possibly allowing the dispersal of individuals between areas. Finally, new records, high species of richness, and the number of unspecified species promotes challenges to obtain an acceptable level of Amazon spiders.
