The title of Sleigh Bells’ New album, Becky Birthday Boy CellsThe head sounds above it (in a press release, they provide permission to laugh at it), but it is true emotionally and meaningfully: the first two words are honorable to Alexis Krauss’ Dear dogs that are no longer with us, while the last two are talking about Krauss boy. The combination of terms finally represents life and death.
The album itself is not all destruction and darkness, however, as songs such as uninterrupted healing and entertaining the album opener displayed in “Bunuky Pop”. It’s a mission statement for the album, too, full of guitars in your face, sugar-sweet hooks, and exciting rhythms.
After the release of April on the album, Derek E. Miller sits with Uproxx to discuss the knots, George Michael, Ai, and more In our most recent Q & A.
What are the four words you use to describe your music?
Miller: It is aspirationalal but: hope, ecstatic, sparkly, blue.
It’s 2050 and the world never ends and people still listen to your music. How do you want to remember?
Miller: I suppress the urge to say, “It does not matter; indeed, no reason,” and be honest. It can be radically remembered as a band that pushes themselves and the creative process as they can, is fully loved, and surrounds things in an honest and fair way.
Who is the person who is most inspiring your job, and why?
Miller: There are some answers to this question … Alexis, H / D in Motowown, and so on, but I go George Michael. I used to sit with my legs crossed in front of TV watching MTV, waiting for “faith” to come. The second first shot of jukebox shows me to do a handstand and shout. The “faith” is to trust and be depressed by any obvious ways. And pretty. Old and new … a Bo diddley rhythm with drum machines! All differences occurred. Spicy Aventure. The best of the best. Tell us about the best concert you attended.
Kolaus: Oof, it’s hard. I have to say it is a strap between the first time I saw the LCD Soundsystem when we opened for them, and then MAC to MSG. I really can’t believe how amazing they are in their years in their career. Chemistry on stage is inevitable.
What song never fails to make you emotional?
Kolaus: “There’s nothing to compare 2 U” by Sinead O’Connor.
What is the last thing you have googled?
Kolaus: Definitely something related to the bird.
Where is the oddest place you have shipped while traveling?
Miller: It does not have to be weird, but a available thing that poison returns the wells days volunteered to sleep in seemingly unwanted places while hiding places. Like the bottom of a bench seat in 15 passengers van … I’ll put on a sleeping bag for more padding / relief and of course there is a warm blanket and pillow. Couples want to go to Wendy’s, I like Taco Bell, and because I suffer sleep on the floor while people sleep in bench seats, we’ve got tacos today! Kolaus: It takes a lot more than 1 million dollars, but free health care and public education of all children.
What are your thoughts about AI and the future of music?
Miller: I feel AI to use in progress, engineering, science, medicine, etc. I have not supported using AI as a writing tool. As a fan, I’d like to see people the good thing because they are angry with love. Does not include entry of prompts or even it has been done.
You throw a music festival. Give us a dream line with 5 artists to go with you and the location it will be held.
Miller: It will be held in my backyard and my dream line look like funk brother causing. Levi Stubbs and Marta Reeves, Defeones, George Michael, Janet Jackson, and Madonna conducted The Immaculate collection its generally. And if someone needs to cancel, maybe the nirvana or public enemy can enter. Or the battle or salt n pepa or burial ?????
Who is your favorite person to follow social media?
Kolaus: I am a big fan of Ilana Grazer since Extensive city And I love following them now, especially since they become a mother. I also like learning about wild edibles from Alexis Nikole. What is the story behind your first or favorite tattoo?
Kolaus: I am 19 and it is very important for me to be able to tattoo a woman in NYC, because at that time there are many owners of women who intercede. I get a big traditional Bautical Style Backpiece by Michelle Myles.
What are your pre-show rituals?
Kolaus: Jumping up a lot, running and flowing stairs.
Who is your first crush crush?
Kolaus: I have the same mind of Claire and Leo at Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet. Oh my good, and that soundtrack just destroyed me. Still do.
You have one month a month and the resources to get a dream vacation. Where do you go and who will go with you?
Miller: I have privilege of traveling for work / travel since high school; Sometimes home feels like a vacation for me, so I want to spend time just hanging in my town with Adam youch when he’s still with us. I didn’t get the chance to meet him, but I loved the boys and Adam who had made a radical change in his life … Knuckleshead of Licensed EA to get merciful man, all while continuing his feelings of humor and making amazing art in many mediums on the road. What is your biggest fear?
Miller: Besides friends, loved ones, and only people who hurt, both of you attracted and fearing tornadoes. I’m in two.
