Think about it: It’s April 2020, between zoom meetings, and scroll through your social media has heard. The headlines like “Death Death Continues to raise”, “Covid-19 can cause long-term health implications” and “Health Care systems across the screen. But you can’t stop scrolling.
If these scenarios rings are true for you, you are not alone. Featured in research People have an inclination to find information during unsure periods – it is a natural coping mechanism. But continuing search-information on social media, sometimes called domomscrolling, can help a pandemic, or any time?
Research about the effects of bad weather news most commonly Suggest exposure to negative news in Covid is likely to damage our emotional well-being. And indeed, early evidence of the effects of consumption of the news of the mindset is reflected. For example, A study Conducted on March 2020 involving more than 6,000 Americans found that more participants at the time spent a lot of news in one day, their feelings were not happy.
These findings are striking but leaves some important questions that are not answered. Domomscrolling makes people unhappy, or unhappy people more likely to be the doomscroll? How much time does doomscrolling spend a problem? And what happens if, instead of withdrawal, are we “Correctly scrolling” – Reading about the positive person’s response to a global crisis?
To find out, we are conducting A study Where we show hundreds of people who are real world-world on any Twitter or YouTube for two to four minutes. Twitter feeds and YouTube videos displayed in general news about Covid, or news about Kindness at the time of Covid. We measure the feelings of participants who use a question, and compare their feelings to participants who do not participate in any surface of all.
The people shown in the General News related to Covid experienced reduced feelings than people who never shown. Meanwhile, people displayed news stories involving acts of kindness have not experienced the same decline, but did not get the motivation for our prophecy.
These findings suggest that spending as many as two to four minutes of negative news about Covid-19 can have a harmful effect on our situation.

Make your social media more positive place
Our research was published earlier this month. Of sadness, Coverage News to our findings, with headings such as “Only five minutes spent on social media is enough to make you miserable, the findings found”, can be part of a person’s content.
But we didn’t see that everyone used social media makes people miserable. However, we know that consumption of negative content about Covid via Twitter or YouTube in the middle of a pandemic.
So what can we do to keep ourselves, and make our social media time more pleasant?

An option is to remove our social media accounts throughout. Numbers showed almost half of Facebook users at the UK and the US considered leaving the platform of 2020.
But how realistic is ourselves from platforms connecting almost half In the world’s population, especially if these platforms offer social interactions at a time when face-to-face fronts can be dangerous, or impossible?
Due to prevention prevention is impractical, here are other ways to make your social media experience more positive.
Be considerate of your social media. If you log in to connect with other people, focus on personal news and pictures shared instead of the latest headlines.
Find the content that makes you happy to balance your news. These images can be cute kittens, beautiful landscapes, videos worth eating or other. You can also follow a social media account dedicated to sharing happy and positive news.
Use social media to improve positive and compassion. Share Good Things That Are Taking Your Life Can Improve your moodAnd your positive condition can spread others. You can also like Finish others on social media. While it can be annoying, people will thank it more than you think.
Important, we do not suggest you avoid all news and negative content. We need to know what is happening in the world. However, we must also think of our mental health.
As we continue to taste our lives and news, our findings emphasize the importance of knowing emotional negative news that we have obtained. But there are steps we can do to ease it and make our social media a happy place.
